I Hate Paperwork!

I hate paperwork - all this paper comes in my house, comes in the mail, people give it to me....  I save it - for what???  Why do I feel that if it is written on paper, it is important - how do people get to the point where they actually sort the stuff religiously - I would have to sort for eight hours per day for the next year to get rid of all of mine - and yet, some people don't feel the need to have TWO four-drawer filing cabinets!!!  Not that all of my paperwork is sorted into them - oh, no, that would be too easy - my paperwork is all over and needs to be sorted to be put into the TWO FOUR-DRAWER FILING CABINETS!!!!

Am I Ranting!???  Yes, I am - I am so fed up with sorting papers - sorting all of the other items that I choose to save is bad enough - at least some of them seem like they might be saleable - unfortunately, printoffs of old email jokes probably aren't!  And my old business records, school papers, kids school papers (they are now 21 and 23!), boxes of paperwork from when I was married (a lifetime ago - actually 12+ years!), etc. etc. are just a waste of my time.  Unfortunately, I have necessary records, serious family momentos, etc. saved in with those boxes of papers and yes, I am going to have to go through them all!  It just makes me so frustrated.

I can't tell you how many books I have on organizing, sorting my things, etc. and yet, I still manage to pile up the papers around me like it is a solution to the national debt!  Or mine!

Anyhow, hope everyone else's day is going better - I'll sign off for here!  Beady

Big Day Yesterday!

It was a very busy day yesterday.  Started off with a funeral ( my great-aunt Evelyn) in the morning, then the "funeral feed" as my father calls it, then visiting with relatives during the afternoon, and finally going out with relatives (and my significant other) in the evening.  I even got to dance some, although my father and his sister gave me a bunch of grief about not overdoing it since I'm only two weeks past surgery!

It was an - enjoyable - dare I say, even tho there was a funeral involved - day overall.  Aunt Ev was a sweetheart and will be sorely missed by her husband, siblings, children, grandchildren and others, but she was 85 and an example of the way life should be lived!  I have good memories of her and so did the others who spoke of her - not a bad legacy to leave behind!

On a brighter note, my father came down for the funeral (and showing on Friday evening) and I got to spend time with him.  I saw a lot of my relatives that I don't usually get to see - seems like it only works out to see each other at funerals....  We all remarked on how sad that was.  However, the flip side of funerals is celebrating the connections with those who are still with us and that was a good thing!

Anybody

Still reading my posts?  Anybody still checking to see if there is one???  I know this color is obnoxious, but if you're just checking to see if I've updated, the color will stop you cold!!!!

I am currently recovering from major surgery - but doing very well, thank you.  I had some related set-backs and it's taken me a little longer to get moving than I would have liked, but at this point, I'm thankful to be moving relatively pain-free and finally have some energy back!  I will be off work until February 9 so I will have time to check and read my site and my friends and children's sites more than usual.

Still working - although on medical leave at the moment - love my job.  I'm in a non-profit agency that runs a Domestic Abuse and Sexual Assault Shelter.  My position is in housing - I run a program assisting clients to overcome barriers to safe, stable, long-term housing.  It can be very satisfying.

Comment me if you read this - it's nice to know someone is still interested in reading my comments and staying in touch - Beady

Can't believe it's August

Hello -

As usual life has gotten away from me....  I have been busy with work - it is demanding work sometimes, but has great personal, emotional rewards!!!

My mother's family reunion (the last weekend of July) went really smoothly.  I really did miss having my kids and grandbaby there, though.  Oops, I forgot, I'm not supposed to call Mavis a baby anymore, she says "I'm NOT a baby!"  But until I hold a squirming three-year-old, it's hard for me to believe that she's still not that small.  It's been over a year now since I've seen her and I can't wait for any pictures, news, or video that I receive showing me how she's doing and what she's up to....  I'm really looking forward to vacation time when I get to go see her.

The family reunion for my dad's side is August 19th.... I still don't know if I'm going or not....

I've been dating some, but no one in particular yet.... We'll see. For those of you out there who are single and dating - there are definitely days when it is no fun!!!  Although I do enjoy meeting new people and getting to know them.

Better run - gotta get moving on my day - still lots to do - Beady

It's Been Awhile....

Hello - It's been awhile since I've been on.  I've been busy as you will see and hear about.  Life gets kinda out of our control now and then, I think.  Or maybe we just imagine that we're in control....  At the end of April (the 29th), I went skydiving for the first time in my life.

Yep, that's me - my Tandem Master's name was Travis - nice guy - and he even pulled the cord and got us down safely!!!

It really was very cool - Details are that we did "Free Fall" for 45 seconds and went one and one-half miles through the air with a top speed of 160 mph at 6,000 feet and an average (over the whole jump) of 123 mph.  We jumped (actually fell out since I was on my knees in the opening) out of the plane at 12,700 feet.  It's a pretty wild ride for those who haven't done it - I probably wouldn't want to go every weekend, but once a year for a good cause - it'll be fun!!!  At least the pictures are of me smiling and not puking, or looking petrified.  The goggles are NOT attractive - I don't care who you are, but they allowed me to leave my glasses on so I could see as much as possible of the ground as we were moving through the air.  Travis even let me steer the parachute once it was open which was really neat.

And for those of you who know me - my parachute was bright pink - my favorite color!  (I was going to download a picture of me coming in for the landing, but am having trouble with my photo disk - I'll try to put in on later).

Have a good day - happy landings!  Blue skies to all - I'll write more later in the week after my  conference!  See Ya - Elizabeth
